NHL Rumors: William Karlsson Entering Trade Rumor Mill
As the Golden Knights navigate through a challenging salary cap situation this offseason, William Karlsson finds himself at the center of trade rumors.
Despite being an integral part of the team since its inception and contributing significantly to its early success, Karlsson's recent performance — netting 30 goals and 60 points in just 70 games — has significantly increased his trade value.
Karlsson signed an 8-year, $47.2M contract with Vegas back in 2019.

However, concerns about the sustainability of his high 17.1 percent shooting percentage have fueled speculation that he might not be able to replicate this success, especially as he moves into his 30s, as noted by Adam Gretz of Bleacher Report.
With three years remaining on a contract that carries a $5.9 million cap hit annually, moving Karlsson could provide the Golden Knights with crucial financial flexibility.

Over his seven seasons with Vegas, the 31-year-old has recorded 152 goals and 215 assists for 367 total points across 502 games played with the club since the 2017-18 season.
This is particularly pressing after acquiring players like Tomas Hertl and Noah Hanifin, who add depth but also complicate the salary cap puzzle.
Moreover, Gretz points out the presence of centers like Hertl and Jack Eichel has made Karlsson potentially expendable, offering Vegas options as they consider reshaping their roster for better balance and future sustainability. Photo Credit: Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports
