Senators Rumors: Erik Brannstrom Expected to Be Moved

The Ottawa Senators entered the 2023-24 season with playoff expectations. They made some notable moves in the offseason, but, unfortunately, they once again disappointed. As a result of this, they are expected to make changes to their roster this offseason.

One area where the Senators are expected to make changes to is their defense. Because of this, one specific defenseman who is likely to be dealt this offseason is Erik Brannstrom.

Brannstrom has been the subject of trade rumors for multiple seasons now. It is clear that the 24-year-old could use a change of scenery, as the Senators' defensive depth on the left side is just too strong with Jake Sanderson, Thomas Chabot, and Jakob Chychrun leading the pack.

When noting that Brannstrom is a former first-round pick who has shown promise in the NHL, there should be interest in him this offseason. He could be a strong addition for a rebuilding team looking to improve their power play.

Brannstrom appeared in 76 games during this season with the Senators, where he posted three goals to go along with 20 points and a plus-5 rating. It was a solid year for the 2017 first-round pick, and he certainly could have several suitors this offseason because of it.
