Senators Rumors: Jakob Chychrun Linked to Atlantic Club
Ottawa Senators defenseman Jakob Chychrun is expected to be traded during the 2024 NHL Offseason. It is understandable, as he did not show too much excitement about the prospect of signing a contract extension with the Senators at the end of the season. With that, he is entering the final season of his deal.
Chychrun is already starting to generate a lot of interest around the league. A new team has entered the mix, too, as the Detroit Red Wings are reportedly looking to acquire the star defender.
The Red Wings have shown interest in Chychrun in the past, so it is not all that surprising to hear that they have him on their radar again. With the Red Wings looking to take that next step and become a playoff team again, bringing in a star like Chychrun would be huge for them.
Chychrun, 26, appeared in 82 games this campaign with the Senators, where he had 14 goals to go along with 41 points and 72 hits. It was another solid year from the left-shot defenseman, and there is no question that he would give the Red Wings a huge boost because of it.
We will need to keep an eye on the Red Wings with Chychrun from here. They are expected to be in for a busy summer, and adding a defenseman like Chychrun would be huge for them.
