Sharks Rumors: Rumblings Logan Couture Wants Out of San Jose
San Jose Sharks veteran Logan Couture has always been candid with the media and this season has some great quotes regarding how nobody wants to trade for an overpaid 35-year-old who can't stay healthy. Turns out the trade speculation continues to brew.
Max Miller of the Hockey News reported Couture would like to play for a team that is competitive, and let's be honest, even with Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith coming as soon as next season, it's going to take some time for the Sharks to get themselves back into the playoff mix in the Western Conference. As we saw in Chicago this season with Connor Bedard and company, it takes time to learn how to win in the NHL.
Couture has three seasons left on his contract at $8 million AAV and GM Mike Grier has shown a willingness to eat roughly 18% of his prime trade candidates' salaries, displayed with both Erik Karlsson and Brent Burns being shipped out.
Couture only appeared in six games this season, recording one assist and back in 2022-23, posted 67 points in 82 games. He's battled injuries for the past five seasons and any onlooking team is going to be taking a risk making a move for the veteran centre.
WELCOME BACK, CAPTAIN! 🦈
