Wild Rumors: Filip Gustavsson Linked to Pacific Team
The Minnesota Wild are expected to shop goaltender Filip Gustavsson during the 2024 NHL Offseason. It is understandable, as the Wild have Jesper Wallstedt ready for the show and Marc-Andre Fleury has already signed a contract extension. Thus, Gustavsson is in a prime position to get moved.
Gustavsson is already starting to generate some interest, as the Los Angeles Kings are one of the clubs reportedly keeping an eye on the Wild netminder.
It is not a secret that the Kings are going to look to improve between the pipes this offseason. Cam Talbot did solid for the Kings during this campaign, but given the fact that he is a free agent, the Kings are expected to go in a different direction.
Gustavsson is coming off of a down season in 2023-24. However, when noting that he had a breakout season in 2022-23, he is a clear bounce-back candidate for next season. Playing a team with a better defense in front of him like the Kings could certainly help his chances of turning things around as well.
We will now need to keep a close eye on this during the offseason. Gustavsson looks like a great fit for the Kings, but time will tell if they end up landing him.
