3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for Tyler Toffoli
Tyler Toffoli is going to be feeling the love in a couple of weeks as he's projected to receive a ton of interest once the free-agent market opens up.
Toffoli, 32, finished last season with the Winnipeg Jets after an in-season trade and recorded 11 points in 18 games down the stretch. Toffoli then chipped in with two goals in five Stanley Cup Playoff games. He has a Stanley Cup ring to his name, he's played over 90 postseason games and even though he's getting up there a bit in age, he's still a very productive top-six winger.
Here's three teams to keep an eye on this summer in the Toffoli sweepstakes:
Los Angeles Kings
The Kings are likely losing Viktor Arvidsson and could look to reunite with Toffoli. The fit is right, they have the money and considering their in win-now mode, it could be a situation that Toffoli is very interested in. Toffoli spent parts of eight seasons in LA and has bounced around a bit since.
Detroit Red Wings
The Wings are likely losing David Perron and could look to Toffoli to replace his minutes. He'd compliment the young core in Detroit very nicely and Steve Yzerman has a ton of cap space to work with this summer. Adding a proven winner who can help boost your offense is something Yzerman will be interested in. Toffoli is projected to make $6 million per season on his new contract, something the Red Wings can easily afford.
Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks have Jake Guentzel on their wish list but if that falls through, they could circle back on Toffoli. He finished the 2019-20 season in Vancouver and went on to sign in Montreal, another team who could be looking to reunite this summer. The Canucks are expected to lose Elias Lindholm and will need to find some more secondary scoring. Toffoli can provide it in spades.
