3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for Sam Reinhart
While Sam Reinhart and the Florida Panthers are just one win away from hoisting the Stanley Cup, once the Stanley Cup Final is over, it's going to be a wild couple of weeks for everyone involved.
The Panthers have a number of pending free agents and there's no doubt the roster is going to change drastically heading into next season. While Florida's GM Bill Zito would love to get an extension done with Reinhart's camp, at this point it's not a 100% given he'll be returning to the sunshine state.
If Reinhart does walk, after a 57-goal season, there's going to be plenty of suitors, with these three teams likely near the top of the list of interested teams:
Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks are looking for a top-line winger this summer and have their eyes reportedly set on Jake Guentzel, however, Guentzel and Reinhart are tied together pretty closely this summer. If Reinhart walks from Florida, the Panthers are expected to pursue Guentzel, so things get complicated quickly. Reinhart is from Vancouver and the fit makes a ton of sense. Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov are expected to test the market so the Canucks will have some money to work with this offseason.
Carolina Hurricanes
Speaking of teams who will look different next season, with Guentzel gone, look for the Hurricanes to go big-fish hunting this summer and Reinhart will be among the top of the list. He's an all-world talent who would fit in perfectly in Carolina as he's defensively responsible and obviously can light the lamp. Carolina has the cap space and the opportunity, so if Reinhart wants to go to a win-now situation, the Hurricanes can certainly provide that.
Detroit Red Wings
Don't count out the Red Wings on anything this summer as Steve Yzerman wants to take a giant step forward and he has the cap space to make significant additions this summer. Steven Stamkos has been tied to Motown and same can be said for Reinhart if he hits free agency. Yzerman has over $29 million to work with and with the likes of David Perron likely skipping town, Reinhart can jump right on to Dylan Larkin's wing and could produce some big numbers with the Red Wings for the next seven seasons.
