3 Potential Trade Destinations for Colorado Avalanche's Ross Colton

The 2024 NHL offseason is in full swing as there's already been multiple trades made before the Stanley Cup was even handed out. As we approach the NHL Draft and free agency, there's a number of teams to keep an eye on including the Colorado Avalanche.

Forward Ross Colton has emerged as a prime trade candidate after the Avs have signed Casey Mittelstadt long term. Here's three teams to keep an eye on:

Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres are trying to make a splash this summer and are going to be one of the busier teams. Colton would give them a solid middle-nine center who plays hard and loves to throw the body. His in your face style is something the Sabres need more of and he's shown he's more than capable to provide some secondary scoring.

Nashville Predators

Speaking of secondary scoring, the Predators are trying hard to balance out their offense as GM Barry Trotz is expected to be very active the next two weeks. Colton would be a great fit in Nashville as his work ethic would fit in perfectly with that group and he could slide right into the second line and second power play unit. The Preds have a ton of cap space and could easily fit in Colton's $4 million AAV the next three seasons.

LA Kings

Keep tabs on the Kings as this week will be a big week for their franchise. After admitting their miss on Pierre-Luc Dubois, they now are searching for a cheaper option up front. Colton makes half of what Dubois was earning and plays a much different, more physical style. The Kings are built on defensive structure and Colton's game could compliment their other centers nicely.
