Blackhawks Rumors: Oilers GM Heading to Chicago?

According to Missin' Curfew co-host and former NHLer Scottie Upshall, Edmonton Oilers GM  Ken Holland could be on his way to the Chicago Blackhawks.

This comes after Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet confirmed that the Oilers were going to let Holland's contract expire on Sunday, allowing for him to sign with any team he chooses. Friedman stated in a recent article: "Official clarity on Ken Holland’s future is expected on Thursday, but multiple sources indicate the Edmonton Oilers will allow his contract to expire on June 30. That would make Holland a free agent, and several teams are expected to ask him about roles he’d consider for next season. That would also leave the Oilers without a GM. It’s possible the organization goes without one in the short-term, as the run to Stanley Cup Game 7 forced them to consider this outcome. A search for any potential replacement risked distracting stories and/or rumours."

Holland was originally hired in Edmonton back in May of 2019. With a busy weekend ahead with two days of the NHL Draft and free agency set to begin on Monday, the move would leave the Oilers in an interesting spot heading into the craziest week of the season.
