Blues Rumors: Brandon Saad Available for Trade

The St. Louis Blues are in the middle of a retooling period and could see some notable changes to their roster this offseason. It is clear that their group would benefit by making some adjustments, and GM Doug Armstrong is exploring all of his options because of it.

According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the Blues have made forward Brandon Saad available for trade.

Saad, 31, is coming off an excellent season with the Blues, as he had 26 goals to go along with 42 points in 82 games played. It was the second most goals he scored in a season throughout his entire career, and his trade value is naturally higher because of it. Due to this, the Blues would certainly expect a nice return for the 2011 second-round pick if they were to move him.

With the Blues in a retooling period, it may make sense to move Saad now because of his heightened value. Teams are always looking for forwards with 25-goal potential, and it also does not hurt that he plays a steady defensive game along with it.

We will need to wait and see what happens with Saad this offseason, but there should be a lot of interest in his services over the next several weeks.
