Canadiens Rumors: 3 Offseason Suitors for David Savard

Montreal Canadiens defenseman David Savard is right back in the rumor mill now that the regular season is over. The right-shot defender was popular nearing the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline, but the Habs elected to keep him. However, they are expected to listen to offers for him again. Let's go over three teams likely to target him now.

Edmonton Oilers: The Edmonton Oilers could be in the hunt for Savard this summer. They were one of the several teams connected to him leading up to the deadline. When noting that they could use a top-four right-shot defenseman who plays a steady defensive game, it would not be surprising if they targeted Savard.

Dallas Stars: The Dallas Stars had a confirmed interest in Savard as well. This could carry over to the summer when noting that their right side could use a boost. This is especially so if veteran defenseman Chris Tanev decides to test free agency.

Carolina Hurricanes: The Carolina Hurricanes are entering the summer with Brett Pesce, Tony DeAngelo, and Jalen Chatfield all with expiring deals. Thus, their right side could be very different next season, and they could be in the mix for Savard because of it.
