Capitals Rumors: Washington GM Making Trade Offers

After moving Darcy Kuemper to the Los Angeles Kings for Pierre-Luc Dubois, Washington Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan is apparently far from done.

According to Elliotte Friedman via 32 Thoughts the podcast, the Capitals continue to stay active and have gained the attention of onlooking executives:

The Capitals only have $3.7 million in projected cap space heading into the offseason so there's certainly going to need to move out some contracts if they want to spend anything on free agency. MacLellan has a number of prime trade candidates who could be in play as they look to re-tool on the fly.

The likes of TJ Oshie, Nick Jensen, and Trevor van Riemsdyk could be in play as MacLellan looks for creative ways to upgrade on the fly. The Capitals also have their 2024 first-round pick who could be in play, as well as their second-rounder and three thirds. It's likely Washington looks to sign a cap veteran free-agent goalie to pair with Charlie Lindgren after moving Kuemper and Cam Talbot could wind up on their radar.

Keep an eye on the Capitals. Their GM continues to be aggressive on the trade market. The team knows Alex Ovechkin only has a couple more seasons left so they want to take one last run at winning the Stanley Cup while the great #8 is still around.
