Wright, 20, was the fourth-overall selection at the 2022 NHL Draft. He's appeared in 16 NHL games so far in his early career, recording five goals and seven points. Meanwhile at the AHL level he's been given a ton of playing time and last season for the Coachella Valley Firebirds recorded 47 points in 59 games.
So far, it appears Kraken GM Ron Francis has no desire to part with Wright as the top prospect could get a serious look in Seattle's top-six as early as next season. The Kraken ranked 29th in the entire NHL by averaging 2.61 goals-per-game and need Wright to quickly become an impact player.
Francis is likely receiving calls on defenseman Adam Larsson and could use the veteran blueliner to acquire some more impact players up front.
For now, Wright stays and Francis gets set for what's going to be a busy offseason. The Kraken have a projected $23.1 million in cap space to work with this summer.
