Maple Leafs Rumors: 3 Free Agents to Target This Offseason

Welcome to NHL Trade Rumors' 2024 Free-Agent Targets series. During it, we will be discussing three pending unrestricted free agents that each team should aim to sign.

In this latest edition of the series, the Toronto Maple Leafs will be the team of focus.

Nikita Zadorov: The Maple Leafs have a known interest in Nikita Zadorov. They were heavily in on him before he was dealt to the Vancouver Canucks, and they are expected to target him again this summer if he hits the market. With the Maple Leafs needing a tougher blueline, it makes sense that they want him.

Chris Tanev: The Maple Leafs also must improve the right side of their defense, and Chris Tanev is another player they are expected to target because of it. Tanev would be a huge addition to their top four, as he is an experienced top-four shutdown defenseman who thrives on the penalty kill. He also is a known leader, which only adds to his appeal.

Dakota Joshua: The Maple Leafs are also expected to be in the mix for Dakota Joshua. It makes a lot of sense that they want Joshua, as he is not only a solid offensive contributor in a middle-six role, but he also plays a very heavy game. The Maple Leafs want more snot, and Joshua would absolutely give them that.
