NHL Trade Rumors: 3 Teams to Watch on Trade Market

It's NHL Draft weekend and free agency is around the corner, several teams have made trades and a few teams are trying to get into the trade market. As day 2 of the draft is set for Saturday from Vegas, keep an eye on the Detroit Red Wings, Nashville Predators and Carolina Hurricanes.

All three teams have been linked to several trades. The Red Wings have a ton of cap space to use and while they have been linked to signing Steven Stamkos on Monday, there have also been reports they are trying to acquire Jacob Trouba from the New York Rangers. If the Trouba deal falls through, the Wings could circle in on John Marino of the New Jersey Devils.

The Predators have young goaltending prospect Yaroslav Askarov who they are dangling on the trade market. GM Barry Trotz tried to move the Russian netminder for a top-5 pick last night, however none of the teams would budge. Trotz is looking for an impact forward in any deal as the Preds look to balance out their offense for next season.

The Hurricanes on the other hand are trying to re-sign Jake Guentzel and they are in trade talks involving Martin Necas. The 'Canes have several pending free agents they need to make decisions on so they are looking to get into the trade market in case a couple of their forwards walk to free agency. They also have Brett Pesce and Brady Skjei who are heading to the open market so they will be very active throughout the entire weekend and into next week.

Keep an eye on the Wings, Canes and Preds. All three teams have been involved in trade discussions and could be creeping closer to finalize deals.
