NHL Trade Rumors: Insider Lists Pavel Buchnevich As Candidate To Be Dealt This Summer

Insider Frank Seravalli has listed Pavel Buchnevich on his trade candidate list this summer.

Buchnevich, 29, has been a standout performer for the Blues, amassing 206 points in 216 games and maintaining a nearly point-per-game pace.

Despite his impressive contributions, Buchnevich's future in St. Louis is uncertain as he enters the final year of his contract with a $5.8 million average annual value (AAV).

With his next deal expected to command a significant raise, potentially exceeding an $8 million cap hit, the Blues face a crucial decision on whether to commit to a substantial long-term deal or explore trade options.

Previously, Buchnevich was highly sought after at the trade deadline, with the Blues' steep asking price of three first-round equivalents deterring potential suitors, as noted by Seravalli.

As he becomes eligible to sign a new deal this summer, his trade value could fluctuate depending on whether teams view him as a one-year rental or plan to re-sign him.

Both Buchnevich and the Blues have shown interest in a contract extension, and the coming months will reveal whether these discussions gain momentum or if GM Doug Armstrong decides to leverage Buchnevich's high market value to address other team needs.

This past season, the 29-year-old recorded 27 goals and 36 assists for 63 total points across 80 games played.
