Penguins Rumors: 4 Teams Linked to Reilly Smith
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Reilly Smith was a popular name in the rumor mill leading up to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. However, a deal centering around the veteran winger did not come to fruition. Things on that front could change during the summer.
Smith is starting to generate interest around the NHL again, as The Fourth Period reported that the Vegas Golden Knights, Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche, and Utah are all linked to him.
The Golden Knights certainly know Smith well, as he spent several years with the club before being dealt to the Penguins last offseason. When noting that he was a key part of their lineup and leadership, it makes sense that they have him on their radar again.
The Kings could use another scoring winger in their top six, so a player like Smith also makes sense for them. He could work well on their second line and would also be a clear candidate for their power play.
The Avalanche have an array of free agent forwards, so it is understandable that they are looking at a winger like Smith. He would give their middle six a nice boost, as he still provides solid secondary production at this point of his career.
As for Utah, they certainly could use an impactful veteran forward in their top nine. With Utah looking to take that next step, it would make sense for them to add Smith for both his skill and overall experience.
