Rangers Rumors: New York GM Interested In Signing Kane & Toffoli

The New York Rangers may have done Barclay Goodrow dirty, but general manager Chris Drury is just trying to do whatever he can to create some more cap flexibility ahead of free agency. There's growing speculation that Drury has his eyes set on a couple of veteran wingers.

The Rangers have been linked to both Patrik Kane and Tyler Toffoli and could be in the market to sign both. Kane had a short stint in New York and admitted he was playing through his hip injury and couldn't give it his all. Some reports have surfaced suggesting he wants another crack at it now that he's fully healthy.

Toffoli on the other hand doesn't appear to be headed back to Winnipeg and would provide the Rangers some top-nine depth as their set to lose Jack Roslovic and potential a couple other forwards. Toffoli is a winner and has put up consistent production regardless of where he's played. Last season he recorded 33 goals and 55 points between the Devils and Jets.

The Rangers currently sit with $12.8 million and have 18 players under NHL contract. Drury needs to re-sign two RFA defenseman and added a couple of depth options, but besides that, adding up front could be limited to just Toffoli and Kane, which would be a massive offseason haul for the blue shirts.
