Red Wings & Bruins talking offseason trade?

The Detroit Red Wings would like to bolster their depth in net as they believe in Alex Lyon, however would apparently like to move on from Ville Husso and the final season of his contract. Turns out a divisional rival could have exactly what the doctor ordered.

According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Red Wings and Boston Bruins could be linked to an offseason trade that involves Linus Ullmark heading to Motown.

Ullmark has one season left on his contract at $5 million against the cap. The Bruins have Jeremy Swayman to sign long-term this summer and are looking to once again move Ullmark for some help up front.

As Friedman points out, Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman likely doesn't want to pony up on the Bruins' asking price if there isn't an extension in place for Ullmark. Which makes this trade likely something that would shape up after July 1 when Ullmark is eligible to sign an extension.

The Vezina trophy winner went 22-10-7 last season, with a 2.55 GAA and .915 Sv.%. He blocked a trade to the LA Kings during this past season and no word yet if the Red Wings are on his 15-team no-trade list.
