Several Notable Names Rumored As Flyers & Senators Close In On A Deal
Trade talks are really heating up around the NHL, as we saw first-hand on Wednesday. Now the Philadelphia Flyers and Ottawa Senators are getting in on the act, revisiting some discussions they had back at the trade deadline. Reports are that the two teams are close to a deal that could be announced within the next week.
Believe the Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers have the framework of a trade in place as well, though this one may go closer to the Draft.

There are some big names being noted as having been part of the discussions, according to Philly beat writer Charlie O'Connor:
I've heard the Sens still like Laughton even w/DJ Smith gone. I've heard PHI likes Pinto. Friedman reported they at least discussed Chychrun at the deadline. I heard Chabot was brought up. Then there's the draft picks.

You take it all w/a grain of salt but it was a lot of smoke. https://t.co/paLAaw4HKa
O'Connor says he's heard that while the Senators "still like" Scott Laughton, the Flyers are enamored with Shane Pinto. Jakob Chychrun, who is rumored to be firmly on the block this summer, was a name that's come up between the two teams earlier this year, as well as another top Ottawa defenseman in Thomas Chabot.
Clearly, no one expects this to be a massive trade involving all of the afore-mentioned names, but it sounds like we can expect something to get done by the Draft.
Both teams were disappointed with the outcomes of their 2023-24 seasons and are looking to regroup. The Senators were expecting to be a playoff team, and were never a factor, while the Flyers, who weren't expecting to be one, had a postseason spot in their grips all season long until the final weeks when they fell off a cliff.
