Sharks Rumors: Mikael Granlund Becoming Trade Candidate
The San Jose Sharks are entering the summer as a team to pay attention to. With the club rebuilding, they are in a position to make more moves to try to improve their future.
Due to this fact, there have been plenty of rumblings over the prospect of the Sharks trading veteran forward Mikael Granlund during the offseason.
Granlund, 32, was acquired by the Sharks from the Pittsburgh Penguins in the big Erik Karlsson trade this past offseason. At the time, it seemed like a cap dump for the Sharks to take Granlund on, as he struggled mightily with the Penguins. However, he had a big bounce-back season for the Sharks and has greatly improved his trade value because of it.
Granlund appeared in 69 games this season with the Sharks, where he had 12 goals to go along with 60 points. This was Granlund's best offensive production since the 2021-22 season, and teams around the NHL could certainly look to add him this offseason because of it.
With the Sharks rebuilding, they are in a prime position to take advantage of Granlund's higher trade value. Let's see if they do just that from here.
