TRADE: Canadiens & Kings Swap 2024 First-Round Picks

The Montreal Canadiens have acquired the 21st overall pick of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for picks No. 26, 57, and 198.

With this move, the Canadiens have moved up five spots in the NHL Entry Draft but have parted ways with multiple picks to do. However, even with trading three picks to move up, they still have a total of 10 picks heading into the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. As a result, they are certainly going to be adding plenty of prospects to their group this week.

Seeing the Canadiens move up in the draft could also be an indicator that they are not done making moves. As NHL insider Darren Dreger reported, Canadiens GM Kent Hughes is looking to add another top 10 pick and the club is also "in a number of player related discussions."

As for the Kings, this looks like a pretty solid move for them on paper. By moving back just five spots, they have earned two extra picks. They can either use those to add new prospects or potentially flip them to bring in talent to help them out immediately.

Overall, we will need to wait and see what else comes from these two clubs from here.
