TRADE: Capitals Acquire Andrew Mangiapane from Flames

Another top trade target is off the board, as the Calgary Flames have dealt forward Andrew Mangiapane to the Washington Capitals in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick.

The Flames were actively shopping Mangiapane, as he is entering the final season of his deal. Now, Mangiapane is heading to DC because of it, and he should be a nice part of their roster as they look to become bigger threats in the Eastern Conference.

Mangiapane, 28, appeared in 75 games this past season with the Flames, where he had 14 goals to go along with 40 points. Overall, it was another solid year for the Toronto native, and he will now look to carry that over to the Capitals.

When looking at the Capitals' lineup, Mangiapane should fit in nicely in their top six. In addition, he will provide them with another weapon for their power play, which is certainly needed.

The Capitals have made it clear that they want to be aggressive this offseason. They already added Pierre- Luc Dubois, and now they also have brought in Mangiapane to their forward group. Let's see what other moves they make from here, as it is very likely that they are not done yet.
