TRADE: Devils & Wild Swap Young Forwards

The New Jersey Devils have acquired Adam Beckman from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Graeme Clarke.

This trade involves two young forwards who are both looking to cement themselves as full-time NHL players. Each of them has had cups of coffee at the NHL level, and now they will be hoping for bigger chances with their new clubs following this move.

Beckham, 23, has made appearances at the NHL level in each of the last three seasons. In a career-high 11 NHL games this season with the Wild, the Saskatoon native recorded two assists, 12 penalty minutes, and a minus-2 rating. Down in the AHL with the Iowa Wild, he posted 19 goals and 33 points in 51 games as one of their alternate captains.

Clarke, 23, appeared in his first three NHL games this season with the Devils, where he was held off the scoresheet. Yet, he had another strong season in the AHL with the Utica Comets, as he posted 25 goals and 49 points in 67 games.

Overall, this is a low-risk move for both clubs. They are each taking a chance on two young players who possess the upside to become NHL-regulars. Let's see if they each can do just that from here.
