Utah HC Signs Sean Durzi to Big Extension

Sean Durzi proved himself as a top-pairing quality defenseman last season with Arizona, now he'll be moving to Utah with a rich, new deal in hand.

It's a four-year, $6 million AAV extension for the 25-year-old after his first year with the ex-Coyotes franchise saw him record a career-high 41 points and 22:43 of ice-time per night. He also blocked a career-best 160 shots.

Durzi was a second-round pick (52nd overall) of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2018. He was dealt the following year to the Los Angeles Kings in a deal that brought Jake Muzzin to Toronto.

Durzi grabbed his opportunity in LA and put up two nice seasons with the Kings before being sent to the Coyotes one year ago. He took his play to yet another level in the desert.

He should now find himself paired up with a veteran top-pairing d-man in the newly-acquired Mikhail Sergachev.

Utah has been busy this weekend beefing up their blueline, also trading for John Marino from the New Jersey Devils.
