3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for Vladimir Tarasenko

The Florida Panthers appear to be moving on from Vladimir Tarasenko as the veteran winger continues to be unsigned after a historically busy day one of free agency. Tarasenko's representatives continue to discuss a new contract with several teams and it's not going to be long before a new contract is in place.

Here's three potential destinations for the 32-year-old winger:

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins continue to confuse a lot of people as management has preached about getting younger and then they've acquired Kevin Hayes and are now looking into Tarasenko. The Penguins have just over $4 million in cap space which should be enough to get Tarasenko to sign, depending on the term. It's likely the Russian forward holds out for the longest term given his age.

Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres have missed out on a lot of veterans so far through free agency and could see Tarasenko as a perfect winger for their top-six. He can play either wing and can still produce at a high clip, coming off a 55-point season. Buffalo sits with $18.9 million in cap space heading into day two and have lots of room to sign Tarasenko.

St Louis Blues

Could there be a reunion in store? Tarasenko spent parts of 10 seasons in St Louis before heading to the New York Rangers and with the Blues having $15 million in cap space and a need for some secondary scoring, the two could circle back on one another. If St Louis goes down this road, look for them to sign Tarasenko to a one-year deal at a little bit more and likely aren't interested in doing any multi-year deals.
