Ducks Rumors: Would Mitch Marner Anaheim Be A Fit With Anaheim?
Eric Stephens of The Athletic recently speculated on the potential fit of Mitch Marner with the Anaheim Ducks.
Marner, a 2x All-Star who has racked up 639 total points across 576 games played, including three 90-point seasons, would undoubtedly elevate the Ducks' top line.
However, Stephens highlighted several obstacles that make this scenario unlikely. Marner's full no-move clause and his preference for staying in his hometown of Toronto present significant challenges.

Stephens also delved into the financial implications of acquiring Marner, whose $10.9 million cap hit is primarily paid through bonuses.
This structure does not align with the Ducks' typical financial strategies.
While Marner's talent is undeniable, committing such a large portion of their salary cap to a single player, especially one potentially at his peak, may not be in Anaheim's best interest.
Instead, the Ducks might prefer to reserve their cap space for their emerging stars, like Leo Carlsson, ensuring long-term financial flexibility.

Looking ahead, Stephens suggested that the Ducks might consider other high-profile free agents in the 2025 UFA class, such as Mikko Rantanen or Leon Draisaitl, if they are ready to contend by then.
He also noted the potential challenges in acquiring blue-line talent, with Shea Theodore as a possible target, balanced against the development of prospects like Pavel Mintyukov and Olen Zellweger.
