Eric Staal Retires as a Hurricane
He was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2003 NHL Draft, and spent the first 12 years of his 18-year career with the Carolina Hurricanes. Now Eric Staal, at the age of 39, is signing a one-day contract back with his original team, and will retire as a Hurricane.

Staal will have his jersey lifted to the rafters this season in Raleigh. He is the Hurricanes all-time leader in goals (322), assists (453), points (775), games played (909), power-play goals (105), power-play points (252) and even hat tricks (13).
He retires with a Stanley Cup ring and 455 career goals and 1,063 points in 1,355 games.
