New York Islanders Sign Oliver Wahlstrom to New Deal

The New York Islanders have a roster move, as they have re-signed forward Oliver Wahlstrom to a one-year, $1 million contract.

Wahlstrom and the Islanders were set for an arbitration hearing, but now they have avoided it by getting this one-year deal done.

Wahlstrom, 24, has been the subject of trade rumors since this past season, and they have been following him into the summer. While this is the case, he still remains with the Islanders and is now signed for the campaign with this latest deal.

Wahlstrom is coming off of a down year with the Islanders, as he had two goals to go along with six points and a minus-6 rating in 32 games. His struggles offensively saw him drop down the Islanders' depth chart this past season, but now he will look to turn things back around during the 2024-25 campaign from here.

Wahlstrom has had some solid seasons in the past with the Islanders, so he is a bounce back candidate heading into the new season. For example, just back in 2022-23 with the Islanders, he had seven goals and 16 points in 35 contests. He also posted 13 goals and 24 points in 2021-22.

It will now be interesting to see what the former first-round pick can do next season from here.
