New York Rangers Sign Braden Schneider To Two-Year Deal

The New York Rangers have made a significant move by securing a key piece of their roster, signing defenseman Braden Schneider to a two-year, $4.4 million contract, with an average annual value of $2.2 million.

This new deal ensures that the 22-year-old restricted free agent, who played a crucial role for the team last season, will continue to bolster the Rangers' blue line.

Schneider showcased his value by appearing in all 82 regular-season games, contributing five goals and 14 assists, and averaging nearly 16 minutes of ice time per game.

Drafted 19th overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft from the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings, Schneider has quickly established himself as a reliable presence for the Rangers.

Over three NHL seasons, he has accumulated 12 goals, 36 assists, a +13 plus/minus rating, 315 blocked shots, and 374 hits in 206 regular-season games, and has also added a goal and five assists in 43 playoff games.

His consistent performance and ability to handle significant minutes highlight his importance to the team's defensive core as he continues to develop.

Schneider also has international experience, including a gold medal at the 2021 IIHF World Championships.

By locking in Schneider for the next two years, the Rangers have solidified their defensive corps as they look to build on their impressive 55-23-4 season, which earned them the Presidents' Trophy.

With Schneider's continued development and growing role, the Rangers are well-positioned to maintain their competitive edge.
