NHL Trade Rumors: 3 Calgary Flames Trade Candidates

The Calgary Flames were the league's most active team on the trade market in 2023-24 as GM Craig Conroy is re-tooling his roster on the fly. There's still plenty of work to do to get the Flames back into contention in the Western Conference so expect to see Conroy continue to shuffle things up heading into next season.

Here's three Flames trade candidates as the offseason continues:

Blake Coleman

Coleman has three seasons left at $4.9 million AAV and holds a 10-team no-trade clause. Last season Coleman recorded 30 goals and 54 points in 78 games and killed a ton of penalties for the Flames. His two-way game is what makes him a very attractive forward option for contending teams. He hasn't played a full-time centre role for quite some time but that doesn't mean he can't slide down the middle and provide some more depth. With his in-your-face style, a knack for big hits and finding the back of the net, Coleman's a very interesting trade chip for Conroy as his value may never be higher.

Nazem Kadri

Admittedly, Kadri is a longshot to move at this point but there was some concerns he was fed up in Calgary already after Conroy decided to move out a bunch of the core players out and wasn't necessarily committed to winning hockey games. While an offseason move seems less than likely at this point, if Calgary comes out of the gate struggling next season, Kadri's going to be a topic of discussion on the trade market.

Daniel Vladar

Yes, Jacob Markstrom is gone and Vladar could see a spike in minutes but he could also be in the running to lose his backup job to Devin Cooley. Dustin Wolf is expected to get a long look as the Flames starting netminder and if Cooley continues his strong play from the end of last season with the San Jose Sharks, the Flames could look to move off Vladar, who is entering the final season of his contract set to make $2.2 million against the cap.
