NHL Trade Rumors: 3 Edmonton Oilers Trade Candidates

The Edmonton Oilers were one game away from hoisting the Stanley Cup and are looking to get back to the Final as soon as next season. Despite not having a GM, the team has been busy this offseason re-signing forwards and adding the likes of Jeff Skinner to bolster their secondary scoring as Jeff Jackson has done wonders for the hockey team.

The job is far from done as there's expected to be some more changes on the way for the Oilers and this time around could be coming from the trade market. Here's three Oilers were who prime trade candidates as the offseason continues:

Cody Ceci

The Oilers don't have much for cap space and Ceci has been named as a player who could be moved to create some more financial flexibility. While it may have to include a sweetener, Ceci's currently on the books for $3.25 million next season and frankly, Edmonton may have better options who will cost significantly less. Ceci finished last season with 25 points in 79 games, playing over 20 minutes a night including a ton on the penalty kill. Philip Broberg appears set for top-four minutes and the Oilers signed Josh Brown to a multi-year deal which could very well be pushing Ceci out the door.

Evander Kane

Speaking of trade candidates, Kane is someone to watch as the summer continues. Last season there were multiple times were Kane butted heads with some of the Oilers' stars and while when he's on he's one of the best power forwards in the game, when he isn't, Kane's a head case and can be a distraction in the dressing room. The 32-year-old recorded 44 points last season and something to watch here is the fact Kane's no-movement clause changes on March 1, 2025, shortly before the trade deadline, to a 16-team modified no-trade clause, so the options will be opening up for Edmonton's management group.

Brett Kulak

Kulak is another defensemen to watch on the trade market as he had his name listed among several in-season rumors last year, but so far, appears much safer than Ceci. Kulak has two seasons left on his deal at $2.75 million and does not hold any trade protection. He played just over 15 minutes a night and doesn't play a ton on special teams, which is interesting considering the money he makes. Certainly someone to watch as the trade winds continue to swirl.
