Panthers Rumors: Ryan Lomberg Expected to Hit Market

The Florida Panthers have been working hard to keep their free agents around after their outstanding 2024 Stanley Cup-winning season. However, it appears that one of them could be finished in Florida.

According to The Hockey News' David Dwork, forward Ryan Lomberg may have priced himself out of re-signing with the Panthers.

Lomberg, 29, will certainly be a hot commodity if he officially hits the market at noon. The Richmond Hill, Ontario native is exactly the kind of fourth-line forward that teams love to have on their rosters. This is because he is a tenacious and hard-hitting forward who makes things incredibly difficult for his opponents. Thus, he should get a decent deal in free agency because of it.

Lomberg appeared in 75 games this past season with the Panthers, where he had five goals, seven points, 80 penalty minutes, and 179 hits. He also played in eight playoff games, where he had zero points and a minus-2 rating.

Teams looking for more sandpaper and speed in their bottom six should be making pushes for Lomberg once he hits the market. Expect multiple playoff teams to be in the mix for his services especially.
