UFA Tomas Tatar Signs Deal For Reunion With Former Team

It was a disastrous season for forward Tomas Tatar, who will now look to recapture some of his mojo in a place that served him well for a couple of seasons, as he's signed on back with the New Jersey Devils.

It's a one-year deal worth $1.8 million, which is probably more than he could have expected after his career-low nine-goal, 24-point season split between the Colorado Avalanche and the Seattle Kraken.

Tatar was a bit of an afterthought on the free agent market last summer, and eventually signed on with the Avalanche for $1.5 million. He wound up in coach Jared Bednar's doghouse and found himself healthy scratched on numerous occasions. He finished the season in Seattle and wound up with the worst numbers of his career.

But with the Devils, he recorded a 20-goal season just the season before last, the 7th of his career, along with 48 points and a massive +41 plus/minus rating. He should be a nice fit back in Jersey for their middle six. And he's definitely happy about the reunion.

In 13 NHL seasons, Tatar has 220 goals, 259 assists and 479 points in 853 games, averaging about 15 minutes a night.
