Winnipeg Jets: 3 Breakout Candidates for Next Season
With each season that passes, it seems that every NHL team has at least one player break out and become a crucial part of their roster. The 2024-25 season should offer more of the same, so we here at NHL Trade Rumors will be looking at three breakout candidates from each NHL club heading into the new campaign.
To start off this series, let's look at the Winnipeg Jets.
Cole Perfetti: Cole Perfetti had a solid 2023-24 season, posting new career highs with 19 goals, 19 assists, and 38 points in 71 regular-season games. However, when noting that he is a former first-round pick with good upside, there is reason to believe that he can take a notable step forward offensively. Perhaps this will be the season where we see him take his offensive game to a new level.
Ville Heinola: Ville Heinola is a former first-round pick who is still trying to cement himself as a full-time NHL defenseman. The 23-year-old has put together some solid years in the AHL, so there is reason to believe that he could compete for an NHL job this year. Perhaps this could be the year that he takes that much-needed step forward in his development and becomes a true top-six defenseman.
Morgan Barron: Morgan Barron has become a nice part of the Jets' bottom six over the last two years. During this past season, he posted 11 goals, 18 points, and 122 hits. While he is becoming a solid NHLer, it is fair to wonder if his offensive game can hit a new level in 2024-25. Keep in mind, he is still only 25 years old.
