2 Florida Panthers Who Will Regress In 2024-25

After winning the Stanley Cup, the Florida Panthers lost a lot of talent, which is normal. They will be able to recover and still be a good team, but it will be tough for a couple of their stars to repeat the stellar performances put together last season.

Sam Reinhart

Sam Reinhart exploded for a career high in goals (57) and points (94) by a wide margin. His previous career highs were 33 goals and 82 points, done in 2021-22, his first season with the Panthers. Reinhart is very skilled, on the top line and power play of the Panthers, and in his prime, but to jump 24 goals in a season is very unlikely and even more difficult to replicate the following season. On the Panthers, he is a definite 30-goal scorer and a likely 40-goal scorer now, but to blow past 50 is a stretch and it will bring his offensive totals down this season.

Sergei Bobrovsky

Sergei Bobrovsky has found his form again in net ever since the 2023 playoffs, but the defense is a whole lot weaker than it was last season. Dmitry Kulikov, a sixth defenseman at best, is on the second pairing, and there are a few young and inexperienced defenders brought in to duke it out on the bottom pairing. The Panthers also brought in Nate Schmidt, as well, who was recently bought out. Bobrovsky went 36-17-4, which is doable to replicate, but he also sported a 2.37 GAA, .915 SV%, and tied for the league lead with six shutouts. That will be much more difficult to replicate, even if he's still playing at his best.
