2 Winnipeg Jets Who Will Regress In 2024-25

There weren't any improvements to the Winnipeg Jets this offseason as the team remained relatively quiet. They should stay about the same and make the playoffs, but it could be tough for some of the players to repeat their performances from last season. These are two individuals from the Jets who will regress.

Connor Hellebuyck

Connor Hellebuyck had himself another very impressive season going 37-19-4, but did really struggle in the first round. It's tough to remain at a very high level in net for an entire season, never mind multiple in a row. Hellebuyck has done that with a .920 SV% in 2022-23 and a .921 SV% in 2023-24, winning the Vezina Trophy. He has yet to go three consecutive seasons with over a .920 SV% and the team is not a Stanley Cup contender. I don't expect him to be bad by any means, just not a Vezina finalist this time around.

Gabriel Vilardi

Gabriel Vilardi is good, but I don't think he's as good as he showed when healthy last season. The 25-year-old only played 47 games and scored 22 goals and 36 points. He will get his time on the top power-play unit and in the top-6, but with a full season of work, he could have regressed. His linemates will be good, but he has to give a full body of work over a season to think that his goal and point pace is going to match that of last season's. He was on pace for 38 goals and 63 points. Maybe soon he gets to a higher level, but I don't think just yet.
