3 Philadelphia Flyers Who Will Regress In 2024-25

The Philadelphia Flyers are likely going to regress overall after the team had a strong start and got by through hard work. The skill is still not there and they have a few more years ahead of them. That being said, there are some players who will take a step back in 2024-25 as well.

Rasmus Ristolainen

Rasmus Ristolainen is going to play on the third pairing when he is healthy this season. This will have him behind Travis Sanheim and Jamie Drysdale, who was acquired last season. Ristolainen has been on a decline since leaving Buffalo and was never strong defensively, no matter how many chances he had or how much he was placed in defensive situations. It's likely he's going to have another tough season in Philadelphia as his contract just looks horrible now.

Travis Sanheim

Sanheim will finish the season with the most ice time on the Flyers, but with Cam York stepping up and Drysdale in town, power-play time will be very limited for Sanheim moving forward. It's not as if the power-play was effective at all last season, but he definitely won't be logging 187 minutes and getting any advantage there. The Flyers look like they will be worse, so it will be tough for him to repeat a career year and pot 10 goals and 44 points.

Joel Farabee

This will be an interesting season for Joel Farabee. He has always shown strong offensive skills, but his ice time was the lowest it has been in three seasons. He set career highs in goals (22) and points (50), but may also be playing on the third line this season with weaker linemates. A lot of how the season turns out for Farabee will be where he plays and if the power play is successful, but the team is going to take a step back, and like Sanheim, it will be tough to replicate a career year.
