3 Players Entering Final Season With St. Louis Blues

The St. Louis Blues have had themselves an interesting offseason, but haven't done enough to be a Stanley Cup contender. The prospect pool is good and there are a lot of young players pushing for spots. That being said, some of the current members won't stick around too much longer to make room.

Ryan Suter

Ryan Suter was an interesting addition. He has been bought out twice and is 39 years old. With the amount of players signed, there really isn't a use for him other than as a safety net. He will probably get into a lot of games though and stand in someone's way. At his age, there is a strong chance this is his last season of his career.

Kasperi Kapanen

Kasperi Kapanen is a streaky player and will likely just get fourth line minutes this season in the final year of his deal. He was surprisingly even brought back after just six goals and 22 points last season. With a number of young players on their way into the NHL, it makes little sense for Kapanen to get another look unless he managed to top 40 points and really be a game-changer in the bottom-6. I don't see that happening as he has hit 40 points once and it came six years ago in Toronto playing beside elite talent in the top-6.

Radek Faksa

For a similar reason to why Kapanen won't return to the Blues, Faksa likely won't either. They are very different players, but the Blues have some good young players coming and there isn't enough room to keep everyone around. He was sent from Dallas as a cap dump, but there were no picks involved. He shouldn't be a bad fit this season for the Blues though.
