3 Players Entering Final Season With Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens are hoping to be better than last season, but will still have a tough time sneaking into the playoffs just yet. The young players are coming, and with that, veterans and other players will be pushed out. Here's a look at three entering their final season with the Canadiens.

David Savard

David Savard has been the defenseman on the Canadiens that has been rumored to be on the move for nearly the last year. Now in the final year of his deal, he is most definitely going to be traded if Montreal is outside of the playoff picture. It would take a lot for the Canadiens to hold onto him and let him walk considering he is a solid defensive top-4 d-man on a solid contract. Expect him to start the season on the Canadiens and end elsewhere to make room for the very talented prospects pushing for spots.

Christian Dvorak

Over his three seasons with the Canadiens, Christian Dvorak has declined and is a third line player at best. He only produced five goals and nine points in 30 games and once again, Montreal has some young talent that will be coming in. If they aren't ready, there is without a doubt better options on the free agent market after next season to replace the upcoming UFA.

Joel Armia

Joel Armia did nicely bounce back for the Canadiens after spending some time in the AHL last season. He finished the season with 17 goals and 25 points in 66 games, but he has been overpaid for his entire contract and it seems like the inevitable ending that the two sides part ways. Last season was the 31 year old's best on his current contract, so it will be difficult to replicate.
