3 Players Entering Final Season With Washington Capitals

The Washington Capitals are refusing to give in to a rebuild as long as Alex Ovechkin is still chasing the goals record. Surprisingly, they appear to have gotten a lot better on paper this season, but the roster that has been assembled won't be able to be held together for long. While it will be a more exciting season in Washington, these are three players entering their final season with the team.

Jakob Chychrun

Jakob Chychrun has been on losing team after losing team and will finally have his opportunity to pick what team he wants to go to as he is a UFA after this season. The Capitals have the inside edge, but don't expect much contract discussions to go on during the season. The Capitals will have to at least make the playoffs and look to have a bright future for Chychrun to consider staying long-term. If he moves on, Washington has Martin Fehervary, Rasmus Sandin, and Alexander Alexeyev to line the left side for the foreseeable future.

Taylor Raddysh

Taylor Raddysh had a huge drop-off in production last season for the Chicago Blackhawks and slowly dropped down the lineup. He didn't score from December to the end of the season. The Capitals are taking a low risk chance on him this season in the hopes he can find his scoring touch again. He won't be in a top-6 role and I don't see that type of scoring coming back, so a one-and-done season in Washington is likely.

T.J. Oshie

T.J. Oshie likely won't be back next season for a different reason. His health is now playing a big part of his career. He hasn't played over 60 games since 2019-20 and he's 37 years old. It may be possible a retirement is coming after the season. But if it doesn't, the Capitals are still trying to build for the future and win now. The future is almost here with Ryan Leonard, Ivan Miroshnichenko, and Andrew Cristall.
