3 Players Entering Final Season With Buffalo Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres are still trying to find a way to get back to the playoffs and hold the NHL record for longest time without. Each time the team misses, there are changes like there have been this offseason and at the trade deadline last season. That being said, if the team makes it or not, these players probably won't be back for another go.

Jordan Greenway

Jordan Greenway hasn't been the best pickup by the Sabres when they brought him over from the Minnesota Wild. He is fine for a bottom-6 player, but with a lot of young talent trying to break into the NHL from the organization, Greenway is either going to play out the final year of his contract with the Sabres or be moved at the deadline. He hasn't been particularly effective other than using his body, scoring only 10 goals last season. I see the Sabres wanting Isak Rosen and Jiru Kulich up in the NHL sooner than later and that will require roster spots.

James Reimer

James Reimer was signed to be the third-string goalie or fallback option if Devon Levi struggles. Ukko-Pekka Luukonen proved himself as a starter, but by the end of the season or at the latest, next season, Levi is going to be ready and there will be no need for Reimer to be back. He's a solid signing for one year, but he's old and Buffalo has a very talented tandem for the future.

Jacob Bryson

The Sabres have a lot of good young defensemen and Jacob Bryson just isn't going to get a chance to play more unless moves are made. I don't see that happening with Rasmus Dahlin, Matthias Samuelsson, and Owen Power locked in as well as Bowen Byram, Henri Jokiharju, and Connor Clifton ahead of him. Bryson is a UFA and will likely be looking for a better opportunity to play. The Sabres' d-core doesn't provide that without injuries.
