3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for Tyler Johnson

While we are nearing September, there are still some notable free agents available for the taking. One of them is veteran forward Tyler Johnson. When noting that the 34-year-old is still a serviceable top-nine forward and has two Stanley Cups on his resume, he should at least be able to secure a professional tryout (PTO) contract before the season. Due to this, let's discuss three teams who could take a shot on him now.

Colorado Avalanche: It is no secret that the Avalanche could use a bit more scoring depth. Due to this, it would not be surprising if they expressed interest in Johnson before the start of the season. He would fit in nicely in their top nine, as he can play both down the middle and on the wing. On a cheap one-year deal, he could be a strong low-risk addition for the Avalanche.

Winnipeg Jets: The Winnipeg Jets could use some help down the middle before the start of the season, so they could consider taking a flier on Johnson. He would give their middle six another option at center but also could work in their top nine at right wing. In addition, he could serve as a decent addition to their second power-play unit if signed.

Minnesota Wild: The Minnesota Wild stand out as another potential club who could take a shot on Johnson. Their center depth is not particularly the strongest, so Johnson could give their third line a boost because of it.
