3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for James van Riemsdyk

James van Riemsdyk remains one of the more talented free agents available on the open market as training camps begin in roughly a month. JVR spent the past year with the Boston Bruins, scoring 11 goals and 38 points in 71 games.

At 35 years old, JVR can bring leadership and secondary scoring to the table for a playoff-bound team and while he may not land a contract ahead of camps opening, he'll certainly at least see a PTO come his way.

Here's three potential destinations for the free-agent winger:

Boston Bruins

Yes, a return could be in the cards here as JVR had a decent season as a Bruin. The only issue here is the fact his style of play doesn't suit the bottom six so if the Bruins don't feel they can give him second line minutes and second power-play time, the fit may not be as seamless as both sides hope.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Certainly a chance Brad Treliving takes a look at JVR as a potential PTO as the team is very thin at left wing after the departure of Tyler Bertuzzi and with Nick Robertson wanting out. JVR would be no-risk medium-reward type of signing and could bring some much needed depth scoring to his old team.

New Jersey Devils

The Devils have had a very successful offseason, landing depth all over the ice and a new coach in Sheldon Keefe. JVR is a Jersey native and with this upcoming season potentially his last, there could be a nice fit here to finish out his career. The Devils got harder to play against, the landed Jacob Markstrom and now they could add JVR on a league minimum deal to help balance out of the offense.
