3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for Mark Giordano
With it now being almost September, teams around the NHL are starting to sign players to professional tryout (PTO) contract. Defenseman Mark Giordano could end up landing one, as the veteran defenseman has made it clear that he wants to continue his career. Which teams could take a shot on him? Let's discuss three options now.
Ottawa Senators: The Ottawa Senators are hoping to take a step forward in 2024-25 and finally become a playoff team again. When noting that they could use a bit more defensive depth and overall experience, perhaps they could consider taking a shot on a veteran like Giordano. He would give them another solid option for their bottom pairing if signed.
Florida Panthers: The Florida Panthers lost plenty of defensive depth this offseason and could look at a player like Giordano because of it. If signed, he would be a solid addition to the Panthers' bottom pairing. He also would get the chance to play for a top-tier contender, so there could be interest there.
Minnesota Wild: The Minnesota Wild could use some help on the left side of their defense. Because of this, Giordano could be a decent depth addition to their roster. He provide them with another fit for their bottom pairing and also could compete for penalty kill time.
