3 Seattle Kraken Who Will Regress In 2024-25
The Seattle Kraken had a tough season in which the team took a pretty big step back after overachieving. They made some upgrades, but while new faces arrived via free agency and through the system, others are still on the decline.
Vince Dunn
Vince Dunn really broke out in 2022-23 and was on pace to have another really good season, but missed 23 games with injuries. He was on pace for 15 goals and 64 points, but now the Kraken have brought in Brandon Montour to challenge Dunn for playing time on the power play. If Dunn even splits time on the top unit, his offensive numbers will decline, regardless of if the team gets more scoring overall. We'll have to see how it plays out, but there is another high-end offensive d-man on the back-end for the Kraken getting points.
Joey Daccord
Joey Daccord had a big season for the Kraken and provided the team with a ton of confidence heading into the future, especially with Philipp Grubauer not playing well since the Kraken became a franchise. Daccord finished last season with a .916 SV%, three shutouts, and a quality start percentage of 65%. Those numbers aren't all that easy to replicate, and while I don't think Daccord has a poor season, the team still isn't great and he will take a small step back.
Jaden Schwartz
Jaden Schwartz has been fairly consistent throughout his career, but his age is showing. He recorded 30 points in 62 games last season and this will likely be the year where he is overtaken in the top-6. There is Eeli Tolvanen on his heels as well as players like Andre Burakovsky and Oliver Bjorkstrand as well. Schwartz usually has a tough time staying healthy, but he shouldn't get any time on the top power-play unit as well this season.
