3 St. Louis Blues Who Will Regress In 2024-25

The St. Louis Blues are going to finish in the middle of the pack again and sit right on the playoff bubble regardless of how many offer sheets the team sends out. There are a number of players aging and getting close to a decline, but others who will show it this season after strong performances by them last season. Let's dive into three Blues who will regress in 2024-25.

Torey Krug

It will continue to be a bad decision on Torey Krug's part to leave Boston and sign with the Blues. His game is on the decline and his offense isn't where it used to be. There were so many struggles last season that Justin Faulk is now the go-to man on the top power play. I don't see why that should change heading into this season. With Scott Perunovich expected to take another step and Ryan Suter in the mix, Krug will not be playing 22 minutes per night this season and his points will likely drop from 39 to the mid 30s at best.

Brandon Saad

Brandon Saad scored his most goals since 2015-16 when the veteran put up 26 last season. With the lack of players competing with him for a spot on the second line, I don't expect ice time to drop, but being able to repeat a feat he hasn't done since he was 23 is going to be very tough to accomplish. Saad is very consistent and is usually good for 20 goals, but he is getting older and the Blues aren't stacked up front.

Mathieu Joseph

Mathieu Joseph is coming off a career year in Ottawa where he put up 11 goals and 35 points in 72 games. 11 goals wasn't his career high, but 35 was by a fair margin. The expectation is that he will once again not get as great of an opportunity as he's shown he deserves, likely playing on the fourth line for the majority of the season. He can produce, but it may turn out the Blues just don't give him the chance to do so and his linemates won't be very impressive anyways.
