39-Year-Old Pierre-Edouard Bellemare Isn't Done With the NHL Yet

He's carved out a 10-year career for himself as a fourth-liner in the NHL, but at the age of 39, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare isn't ready to hang 'em up just yet.

The native of France told a Swedish news site:

I want to give it another year.

'PEB' spent 11 seasons playing in France and Sweden at the start of his career, before coming to the NHL at the age of 29. And while he was relied on for a bit of offense in his last few years overseas, he settled in more as a checker on the fourth line while in North America, spending his first three seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers.

From there, he moved on for stints with the Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, Tampa Bay Lightning, and last year with the Seattle Kraken, where he only played 40 games (with 4 goals and 7 points), between a leg injury and some healthy scratches.

Bellemare has played exactly 700 games in 10 NHL seasons, and has cracked the 20-point mark twice. Overally, he's recorded a total of 64 goals and 138 points with a plus/minus off +22.

He's currently training in Sweden, and admits if he doesn't get another bite from an NHL team this summer, a return to SHL Skelleftea, where he spent five seasons, is also a possibility.
