Blackhawks' Laurent Brossoit to Miss Several Weeks After Knee Injury

The Chicago Blackhawks have announced that goaltender Laurent Brossoit has undergone knee surgery and is expected to miss the next five to seven weeks as he recovers.

With this news, Brossoit is set to miss most if not all of the Blackhawks' training camp. In addition, if he needs the full seven weeks to recover, he would also end up missing the beginning portion of the regular season.

Brossoit was one of the Blackhawks' big additions of the summer, as the Original Six club signed him to a two-year, $6.6 million contract. He is expected to form a tandem with Petr Mrazek as the Blackhawks look to be more competitive during the 2024-25 season. Yet, they now will need to wait a bit before truly seeing him in action.

Brossoit is coming off an excellent season as the backup goalie of the Winnipeg Jets, as he posted a 15-5-2 record, a .927 save percentage (SV%), and a 2.00 goals-against average (GAA) in 23 games.

We will now need to keep a close eye on Brossoit's recovery from here. Here's to hoping that the veteran goaltender gets the green light to return from injury before the Blackhawks' regular season is officially here.
