Edmonton Oilers RFAs Philip Broberg & Dylan Holloway Receive Offer Sheets

The Edmonton Oilers have found themselves in a cap crunch this offseason, and have delayed the signing of two of their crucial restricted free agents, Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway. Now, they will have to pay the price for that delay.

The St. Louis Blues have extended offer sheets to both players.

The Oilers now have seven days to match the offers, or they will both become St. Louis Blues. Philip Broberg's offer sheet is for two years, $4.6M AAV, and the compensation is a 2nd round pick. They offered Holloway two years at $2,290,457 AAV. The compensation for him is a 3rd round pick.

To that end, the Blues have completed a trade with the Penguins to re-acquire their second-round pick in 2025 (as well as Pittsburgh’s fifth-round selection in 2026). The Penguins will receive the Blues' second-round pick in 2026 and Ottawa’s 2025 third-round selection in return.

The timing on the moves is not surprising. The Oilers are reported to have learned this week that Evander Kane will likely have to be placed on LTIR to start the season, which would give them $5.125 million in cap space to work with, at least temporarily, to try to sign Broberg and Holloway.

Now, the pressure is on.
